The only confirmed Canadian on board Air France’s flight 447 has been identified as Brad Clemes, a 49-year-old father of two adult sons. Brad’s status was confirmed by his brother, Blake Clemes, to CBC news.

By all accounts, Brad was a great guy, an adventurer who lived life to the fullest. He was adored by his family and many friends. According to his brother, “he had a tremendous sense of humor”.

One of his best friends, and best man at his wedding described Brad as “the kind of guy who followed his dreams, and he pursued them. He had that vision of a strong family and that sense of adventure, and he pursued it and he achieved it”.

Brad is originally from Guelph, Ontario, and has been living with his wife in Belgium and working for the past 14 years as an executive at Coca-Cola.

I saw Brad’s 2 brothers interviewed on CNN yesterday and even though I did not even know them, I cried just learning about such a loss. He was a wonderful brother, son, husband and father to 2 young sons. My deepest regrets to your family. You are in my prayers and I know that Brad will never be forgotten.

My heartfelt condolences to the Clemes family. I worked with Brad in South Africa between 1996 and 2000. He was truly a wonderful individual that was always willing to help and give advice.

May his soul rest in peace. May his loved ones be granted peace and the strength to celebrated his life.

I wonder, if the weather was so bad, why didn’t the airline cancel the flight?
