The Brazilian military has decided to take an aircraft off the Air France jet search. The Embraer R-99, a specialized air craft with on-board radar is being pulled from the search effort.

The military announced the news in a statement.

The Embraer R-99 was the first to spot debris from Air France flight 447 with the use of its radar during night flights in the first week of June.

“The R-99 flew more than 100 hours and fulfilled a fundamental role in the operation, especially in its initial phase,” the statement said.

The search operation will continue with other aircrafts along with French and Brazilian ships.
